HEL Performance Thermostatic Oil Cooler Take-Off Plate

The HEL Performance oil cooler take-off plate is designed to divert engine oil from the block to an external oil cooler, helping to maintain stable oil temperatures during demanding driving conditions. It provides a reliable solution when the factory heat exchanger struggles to control oil temperature under sustained load.

Thanks to its slimline and compact design, this take-off plate installs cleanly without interfering with surrounding chassis or auxiliary components. As a result, installation remains straightforward while maintaining full engine bay clearance.

Improved Oil Temperature Control

Under high-performance or track-driven conditions, oil temperature control is critical. Therefore, this take-off plate allows oil to circulate through an external cooler, significantly improving heat management.

However, unlike non-thermostatic alternatives, this unit features a built-in thermostat. This ensures oil only flows to the external cooler once it reaches the correct operating temperature. Consequently, the engine warms up faster while remaining protected in colder conditions.

Integrated Thermostat for Safe Operation

Once the oil reaches the selected thermostat temperature, the internal valve opens and allows oil to pass through the external cooler. Meanwhile, approximately 10% of the oil flow circulates through the cooler at any given time. This design maintains constant circulation, prevents air pockets, and avoids thermal shock.

At the same time, excess oil is returned through the internal bypass system. This ensures consistent lubrication and eliminates the risk of overcooling.

• 82°C / 180°F – Hot climates and extreme racing conditions

• 92°C / 198°F – Mixed climates and fast road or track use (most common)
